Springfield College is woven into the very fabric of basketball. James Naismith, a graduate student and instructor at Springfield College, created the game in 1891, and it has since developed into the global sports sensation that it is today.
The NBA was established in 1946 and currently consists of 30 teams located around North America, with one in Canada. Teams are divided into the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference due to the vast size of North America. The eight top teams from each conference advance to the Playoffs at the end of the regular season, and the winners of each conference square off in the NBA Finals. The NBA Champions are the first team to win four games! The Golden State Warriors were the champions of last season!
